Beyondesign was invited to participate in the competition with 10 International Designers to create this iconic waterfront design. We, being the only Indian designers invited to design as we specialize this waterfront properties & Yacht design.
What is the meaning of iconic design?? It is a combination of out of the box thinking by an architect and most importantly Client’s vision. Combining the two will create a design, which has never been seen before.
Beyondesign named this project – Infinity, and as the background image suggests there is nothing between you and nature.
The design started with the idea of a hotel on a cruise ship. The Client wanted the cruise ship without the engine so we decided to remove the vehicle and create a 7 star Floating Hotel like never created before.
The design is ideated from nature and coral life. We have the auditorium designed in the shape of a sea shell which is saying “please hear me”. Central core is a coral shape which is growing from the sea then we have a fish shape at the rear which is textured as fish scales.
And most important, each and every space is connected to the sea and sky. It is designed from inside out with all the elements expressing itself and talking to nature. The Floating Hotel consists of 438 rooms in total with Hotel Suites, Presidential Suites, Spa Cottages, Beach cottages, Duplex…Total ht. of the structure rises to 60 metres above sea level.
The expansive beach is designed towards the sea-side that cuts the swaying of the main hotel from water currents. Aft of the hotel has spa cottages with swimming pool and Bow of the hotel has Event theatre and presidential cottages. The Floating hotel has a panoramic glass view without columns with a clear ht. of 5 metres. There are 9 restaurants with 3 open-air lounges on the top.
Infinity pool is strategically designed on the 6th floor, which is 30 metres above sea level and an open air Mexican barbeque. Top floors is designed for the Chairman with total area of 12000 sq.ft. Also, Presidential suite is designed adjacent to the Chairman’s floors with a bridge connectivity between the two.
Wind pressure & Aerodynamics form follows function. The vertical structure is designed by our naval architecture firm “Stolk Marimecs” from The Netherlands. Air flow throughout the structure and wind pressure decided the design form of the project.
