White House by Le Studio – Pierre Antoine Compain

White House

White HouseLe Studio and Pierre-Antoine Compain had free hand for this new renovation project in La Rochelle in France, results in the open luminous “White House”.
White HouseFaithful to its style and its taste for Brazilian and American architecture it created a space where the white and the light dominate.
White HouseThe dial tones of white and the light, make it possible explosions of color points. A game of contrast between the white matt of the internal skin of the house, and these spectacular colors which floods the space.
White HouseSmall pods extend into the central space to create areas scaled for individual use, including a computer station and reading nook. The main element of White House is very clearly the glass axis which crosses it from the upwards.
White HouseIn reality, this axis is a greenhouse, piercing the ground floor to join an intermediate landing, before the first floor, the greenhouse receives exotic plants.
White HouseBesides creating a green zone, the purpose of this  construction is to establish the link between all the floors, as well visually as functionally. The vertical greenhouse was not a small matter to be realized.
White HouseTo distribute the loads of three stages around an axis out of glass proved to be complex. All the house lives thanks to a game of transparency and light, strongly strengthened by the opening of the roof which creates a light shaft essential to the balance of the project.
White HouseThe conceptual intention of the starting project was respected. Sixteen months of work to give to a house of city of the 18th century, a jewel in the modernist style.
