Crest installation

Crest installationZaha Hadid Architects has revealed images of ‘Crest” istallalation to be installed in the John Madejski garden at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) during London Design Festival, (13-21 September).
Crest installation‘Crest’ is designed as a demountable sculpture to be installed at the ME Hotel, Dubai, in celebration of the 2016 launch of the group’s Hadid-designed ME Dubai hotel.
Crest installationIt will be “precision engineered as a pre-stressed aluminum shell of minimum thickness” says the architect. Once reinstalled, the architect hopes the piece will continue “to explore the relationships between fluid and Cartesian, solid and void, surface and structure inherent within the hotel’s design.”
Crest installation“We envisaged a piece that would emerge from the fountain at the centre of pool. The metallic surface will reflect the sky on one side and the rippling water on the underside.” Crest will rise in a smooth metallic arc over the pool within the V&A’s popular courtyard, set to a historic backdrop.
