Amazon chooses building by Foster + Partners as UK home

Principal PlaceAmazon, global leader in e-commerce, has confirmed it will be moving into office space in Foster & Partners’ Principal Place, a office building planned for Shoreditch High Street, as its new UK home.
Principal PlaceAmazon said the new building, to be called Principal Place, will provide it with “total capacity” for more than 5,000 London employees. UK boss of Amazon Christopher North said it would give the firm the ability to hire “thousands” of new employees in London in the coming years.
Principal PlaceThe building includes a double-height lobby and two atriums that run the full height of the building, which steps down from 15 storeys at the front to nine storeys at the rear. Roof terraces on the top of both sections of the building include areas of greenery, outdoor dining space, a tennis court and a basketball court.
