Wanda Vista towerChinese developer Wanda Group, backed by China’s second-richest man, announced plans to build an 89-story mixed-use tower in Chicago’s Lakeshore East, designed by Studio Gang.
Wanda Vista towerThe 88-story includes 9,000 square feet of retail space, a 250-room, five-star hotel and 390 condominiums, which would be the third-tallest building in Chicago behind Willis Sears Tower and Trump Tower, and would be steps away from Aqua, another Gang-designed building.
The-Wanda-Vista-tower-by-Studio-Gang-04The project highlights some changes to the design, since it was first announced by a Chinese news outlet in July, and shows three staggered volumes constructed from stacked frustums, or cut-off pyramid shapes.
Wanda Vista towerCompared to the original design, the tower has been chopped down to 88 floors from the originally planned 89, some concerns about will actually become the city’s third tallest building for would unseat Aon Center Randolph.
