MOBO Architects has recently won a major public competition created by the Colombian society of architects (SCA) to design the institutional building for the “department for social integration” in the city of Bogotá.

The building will be located in a former industrial area that is becoming an educational and administrative cluster in the city.

The project for the “department for social integration” is the architectural formulation of the inner values of this institution, therefore concepts as dedication to the public service, decrease of social segregation, and service to the community should be clearly visible in the design.

Therefore, to fulfill this condition our design strategy was focused in the creation of a public space capable of create new ways of interaction between the street level and the institutional building.

We synthesized the complex mixed program required by the institution in three parts (office spaces for the administrative functions of the department, spaces for social and public functions, and finally spaces for public events and presentations)

Our strategy is focused in the formulation of an efficient and flexible building, that trough the formulation of a unique public space is transformed in a platform of public exchange, open and transparent that integrates the urban fluxes with the building to promote community interaction.
