The jury praised the ideas and projects presented showing that after the Spanish deep economic crisis a new generation of architects is finding its path into the profession with new ways of working.

The project presented by OOIIO is developed in an unusual format in architecture: it is a literary story, a tale, accompanied by some illustrations in axonometric by which OOIIO intends to recover the vast obsolete and unbuilt urbanized lands that are in the “Spain post outbreak of housing bubble” for the reception of those refugees who are trying to enter Europe.

Some of the many architects that are unemployed in Spain today would be responsible for designing such camps through ephemeral architectures initially that eventually become permanent architectures thanks to its success and good design.

Both, the story and the pictures, have a high burden of symbolism: it is precisely choose “a tale” as a way to communicate the project because a tale always has an intentionality, it does not matter whether is written for children or adults, a tale is an artistic figure that the writer never does without a precise objective.

The texts are rich in references to the words of several renowned architects like Rem Koolhaas for example; illustrations show so surreal landscapes that invite the reader to let the imagination fly imagining how would be those described places in the text, with many references also to famous historical paintings and architectures. Nothing is left to chance in this singular OOIIO´s project!

Luckily for the team, the jury understood the work behind this project presented for the open competition (over 150 projects were submitted) and chose it to join the Spanish representation at the 2016 Venice Biennale, the most important international event in architecture.
