The bunker is a hidden architecture, an urban fabric with underground streets. Main idea is to link underground fabric with the city by 4 vertical streets and a dynamic skywalk, inspired from South Korean national symbols – Taegukgi. Creating a new landmark for Busan with unique architectural expression, the project reflects the idea of a city within a city. It uses the bunker as a foundation that works as an activities collider, an island of arts.

The mountain emphasizes the architectural silhouette of the project – which acts like an independent organism/hybrid combining diverse functions with 24 h activities – and serves as an energy source plant. By its unique character and site, the project creates a new strong context for the area and an iconic landmark for the city.

The proposal is connected with main city network and program incorporating a sense of community. It will create a unique neighbourhood with clever parking solution and totally efficient energy systems that will maintain the iconic elements. The alley/pedestrian system creates continuity between the city and the site.

Over the last century the human population and establishments has reached an overwhelming number. The continue deforestation and the massive anthropisation of the nature should be an alarm sign. Our approach is to make a new landmark trough a subtle connection between anthropic and natural, to translate the horizontality of the streets in a vertical approach – 4 towers.

Rising from the mountain these towers allow a flexible development strategy. Being interconnected with light material dynamic skywalk – city panoramic elevator – they will open stunning views over the city and the sea. The plaza located in front of the towers represents a simplified version of the “Taeguk” symbol. It acts like an agora that opens towards the city, creating the main access to the bunker and a spiritual and public center. Source by Ion Calugaru.
