Taipei-based architectural photographer Lucas K. Doolan has recently visited and photographed the newly opened Taichung Metropolitan Opera House in Taiwan designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito.

This series of photographs intend to capture the experiential encounters and representing spaces in connection to the local people and its surrounding context.

As an architecture photographer, Lucas has recently been involved in the New Zealand 14th Architecture Biennale project, photographing projects represented at the New Zealand pavilion such as the Rotherham House by Bruce Rotherham, Unitec Marae by Dr Lyonel Grant, Fortuna Chapel by John Scott and Heke Street House by David Mitchell and Julie Stout.

He was also the exhibition photographer for ‘The Lab’ of the 5th Auckland Triennial at the Auckland Art Gallery.

Lucas has recently received a honourable mention in Architecture: Cityscapes category of IPA, New York, and the winner of the Photography category in The 19th Da Dun Fine Arts Award, Taiwan.

He is currently working on his new photography project, extending on from his Concrete Landscapes series taken on medium format black and white film.
