The architect Eduardo Souto de Moura has carried out a project to build an auditorium at the headquarters of the Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboa.

The invitation came from the supplier of the Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboa (SCML), Pedro Santana Lopes, who asked to Souto de Moura to create an auditorium in the San Roque, where the headquarters and the headquarters of this institution.

The work is located in the old building completed in mid 1915, where he worked the first industrial laundry in Portugal, which had the task of centralizing the cleaning of clothes of all the equipment of Mercy of Lisbon.

Eduardo Souto de Moura has been in inspired form from the view of the city, ranging from the hill of San Vicente to the Castelo de São Jorge, which can be seen through a glass wall. “I thought to see this view Lisbon as if the audience were a camera or a film,” said the architect.
