Slalom House, as a future project, will be located in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Astana located in the central part of Kazakhstan surrounded with flat prairie.
The main idea of this project is to create a slalom track on top of the residential buildings by gradual decrease of the number of stories in buildings. No other building in the world is using roof for slalom track.
It makes this building a unique landmark for the city and can attract tourist and riders from all over the world.
Slalom House will provide access for sports that are not easily available at Astana. Nearest slalom track is 4 hours driving away.
There is no need for artificial mountain. Combining residential building with different heights creates a batter. Elevators are much cheaper than cable way or surface lifts. Expenditure need only for the track cover and elevators.
Natural snow can be used 4-6 months at the wintertime. SnowFlex, an artificial cover that provides a similar riding experience as a natural snow, covers track at summer. The track illuminated for riders at night.
The slalom track can be used the whole year. Compare it to the Alps that are available for riders only for 3-4 winter months.
The relatively short length of the track is compensated by fast lifts. For the comparison, it would take 2-3 minutes by cableway to get up and only 48 seconds on the elevator. Source and Images Courtesy of Shokhan Mataibekov.
