Facette is a collective and future-proof mixed-use office building in the heart of Bordeaux’s new district Belvédère. To create an accessible building on the central axis of Boulevard Joliot-Curie, with an active, inviting ground floor for both occupants and passersby, the surrounding public spaces are literally drawn into the building.

This results in a transparent and sculptural ‘rez-de-chaussée’ (ground floor). This typology, which Studioninedots calls WeSpace, functions as a collective, versatile space for working, leisure and meeting. This WeSpace is an extension of both the workplace and the public space.

Facette’s WeSpace
The new LGV connection from Bordeaux to Paris provides a huge boost to the ambitious development of the Bordeaux Belvédère area. Located along the Garonne, this mixed-use, compact district will feature lively urban streets. The busiest boulevard of this area is home to the mixed-use office building Facette, Studioninedots’ winning entry in a recent closed competition.

At a time where work becomes more independent of time and place, the building’s added value lies in the creation of spaces for interaction. Facette anticipates the crossover between social and spatial dynamics. Entrepreneurs here can be energised by the collective facilities of the WeSpace. At the same time, they can retreat to the studios, work- and meeting spaces on the quieter floors and off the green courtyard.

Flexibility
Facette is designed with a flexible structure that can easily adapt to new future functions. The work floors can be organised differently thanks to the open layouts created by relocating the stairwell from the core to the facade. This stairwell is designed as a green, vertical office garden. The facade’s grid structure provides visual coherence to unite the varying orientations of the building, and allows Facette to front all sides. Source by Studioninedots.
