Start of construction of Het Grote Huis by Powerhouse Company

Het Grote Huis

The construction of Het Grote Huis has recently started on the historic Duivenvoorde Estate in Voorschoten. Being and Vink Bouw have developed a contemporary country estate that responds to the increasing demand for green and sustainable living environments in an easily accessible location.

Het Grote Huis consists of 14 sustainable apartments and an underground parking garage, in the middle of the green polder landscape of Voorschoten. Powerhouse Company designed a modern version of a large country house, in which the interaction between high-quality architecture, garden, park and landscape is central. The landscape design is by DELVA Landscape Architecture & Urbanism.

Besides green, a lot of attention has been paid to sustainability. The houses will not only be completely gas-free, but the building will also be fitted with solar panels and a thermal storage system in combination with a heat recovery installation (WTW). The Grote Huis is located on the Duivenvoorde Estate, near Duivenvoorde Castle (one of the oldest castles in the Netherlands) and a large pond bordering the De Vliet canal.

Voorschoten’s central location means that The Hague, Leiden and the sea are within easy reach. The combination of nature and culture offers numerous possibilities for (water) recreation. By boat you can sail via the Vliet to the many lakes of South Holland. Many of the homes of Het Grote Huis have their own mooring place. The apartments are expected to be completed in early 2022.
