Tokyo Institute of Technology Hisao & Hiroko Taki Plaza by Kengo Kuma and Associates

Tokyo Institute of Technology

We designed a new platform for student activities for the entrance to the Ookayama Campus of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The majority of the structure was built underground and provided with a shape that resembles a green hill that is integrated into the ground in order to provide a view of the clock tower from the front gate and complement the scenery on the campus.

Multiple types of activities, including spaces for exchanges with international students, co-learning and workshops are seamlessly integrated inside the plaza that consists of continuous step shapes. Source by b Kengo Kuma and Associates.
