On the occasion of its third edition EDIT Napoli, which will take place from 29 – 31 October 2021 in the Mediterranean city, presents an original collaboration between the Caselli Institute – Royal Factory of Capodimonte and the architect-designer Patricia Urquiola.
The project, linked to MADE IN EDIT – the design label conceived by the director of EDIT Napoli Emilia Petruccelli and the curator Domitilla Dardi, involves one of the most important Italian and Neapolitan institutions located in the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, the Caselli Institute, born in the Sixties with the aim of preserving ancient artisanal traditions and experimenting with unprecedented forms and techniques in the porcelain sector.

Initiated in 2020, the collaboration with Patricia Urquiola is based on the desire to revitalize the ancient tradition of porcelain and, at the same time, to enhance the excellence of Capodimonte’s artisanal production by creating a connection between the masters of the Royal The project’s core desire is to re-read the eighteenth-century theme of large centerpieces, connecting it to the naturalistic and floral theme to create a “garden on the table”, according to a research developed in recent years by De Bartolomeis himself for the Caselli Institute.
The theme is inspired by the immense catalogue of plants and flowers of the Real Bosco di Capodimonte which represents a great source of inspiration for the students in the creation of porcelain. EDIT Napoli once again proves itself as a meeting and a starting point for dialogues between territory, tradition, institutions and contemporary design. In addition to promoting research and the importance of the cultural and educational purposes of this collaboration, EDIT Napoli and the Caselli Institute will hold an auction whose proceeds will be donated to the restoration of the school’s internal garden.

Protagonists of the fundraising will be the prototypes developed in recent months by Patricia Urquiola together with the masters of the Royal Factory and the stuednets of the institute for the creation of the collection that will be presented at the opening of the fair on 29 October, 2021 at the Monumental Complex of San Domenico Maggiore, the main venue of EDIT Napoli – as part of a dedicated exhibition within the EDIT Cult programme.
Also in 2021, EDIT Cult will be announced in July and will dynamize the historic city centre. The names of the exhibitors and all the protagonists of the fair will be announced at the closing of the Open Call for independent designers, authors and design editors, creators and producers that will be part of the selection of main exhibitors and of Seminario, the section of the fair dedicated to designers aged under 30 and to brands with less than three years of history.
