Piuarch, winner of an international competition by invitation, unveils its project for the new Snam headquarters in the area south of Porta Romana, which is undergoing major urban and cultural development. With a total surface area of approximately 19,000 square metres, the building will consist of three overlapping volumes on 14 floors.
The new headquarters will be built as part of Symbiosis district by Covivio, an innovative and sustainable urban regeneration project, with zero local emissions and energy produced mainly from renewable sources. Always responsive to the values of environmental quality and relationship with the context, with this project Piuarch underlines its commitment to design oriented towards energy, social, landscape and innovation sustainability.
“In our project for Snam we considered a broader notion of architecture, one that meets the needs of today’s society. We went beyond the scale of conventional artificial environments that we find in workspaces, landscapes and urban design, trying to establish a sincere dialogue between natural environment, functional and shared spaces” say the Piuarch’s architects.
The concept focuses on people and how we will be working in the future, integrating a wide range of elements to accommodate tomorrow’s working needs: in addition to flexible and efficient offices, it will host various inclusive spaces dedicated to social interaction between people. The alternation of working environments with spaces dedicated to collaboration, creativity and innovation will also be accompanied by services that will help ensure high levels of wellbeing for people.
A space where the office is no longer just a physical place of work, but a destination, a context in which to generate value for all stakeholders and experience a sense of community. One of the most characteristic aspects of the project is the continuity of greenery between outdoor and indoor spaces, which will serve as an element promoting air quality in the working environment.
Outside, a park of over 8,500 square metres will be created, designed in collaboration with landscape architect Antonio Perazzi, and which includes a “verzura” theatre, which will also be open to the public for outdoor educational activities and events. A landscape with a recognisable design, innovative, ecological and at the same time very respectful of the environment.
Designed according to the highest standards of sustainability and comfort, the building will attain the most important national and international certifications in terms of energy efficiency (LEED & WELL which are of the same level as Gold, BRAVE, CENED and Casaclima).
The project adopts an innovative approach to respond to some of the principal environmental challenges of our time, such as reducing CO₂ emissions, improving air quality and making cities more liveable, in accordance with the sustainability criteria of the European Sharing Cities initiative.
The new headquarters, for which the company has signed a sale and purchase agreement with Covivio, will become fully operational in the first quarter of 2024, alongside the historic headquarters in San Donato Milanese, between Via Condino and Via Vezza d’Oglio.
The decision to build a new headquarters aims, among other things, to create a modern space, more consistent with the new way of working, and one that is more flexible and open to social interaction, with more services for people and greater integration with the community and the territory.
