Conceived as an “open deposit,” the Collection’s new display showcases the experimentation of the most current creative scene, among the most recent acquisitions, the great masters and the younger generations.
For the Architecture section, the three curators – Pippo Ciorra, Laura Felci, Elena Tinacci – have selected only 4 designers: Giorgio Grassi, Matilde Cassani, Francesca Torzo, and DEMOGO, to create a dialogue between authors from different generations, united by the international dimension of their respective design activities.
DEMOGO presents the project for the Town Hall of Gembloux in Belgium (completed in 2015), the studio’s debut project. In particular, the exhibition features a new model made of cast copper (the same material used for the building’s cladding) and sprayed red concrete, created by Modelab by Marco Galofaro and acquired by MAXXI for its permanent collection.
The model is essentially a replica of the building in Belgium, speaking of deterioration and reality, and undergoes changes and aging over time.
It has a profound relationship with the context, not only in terms of morphology but especially in the way it captures the climate, atmosphere, and light of the place.
Being featured in the exhibition “FUORI TUTTO” represents a significant opportunity for DEMOGO, an established architecture studio today, with notable completed and ongoing projects in various Italian cities.
The countercultural dimension that characterized the studio’s research in its early years has now evolved into a new phase of professionalism that expands the dialogue with architectural culture in Italy and internationally.
