Le Nuage is the first inflatable private building in Europe, is located at Montpellier in France.
The project is situated on Avenue Raymond Dugrand, the main road passing through the centre of Port Marianne. A genuine city boulevard lined with new business centres and major retail names, a new focal centre of modern city life.
It is an extraordinary construction, ethical and poetical, is a unique and innovative architecture, with an enveloping inflatable membrane in the form of a cloud, from which it takes its name.
It is a bubble of 3000 sqm of facilities and services, dedicated to health and well-being.
It is fun and accessible place to do sport, relax, diner, shop or just friendly moments. It is designed as a vertical village.
Four villages are articulated around the four floors of the building to centralize in one place all the expectations of people who care for a healthy and fulfilling life.
The air-filled pillows on the façade in ETFE give the impression of aerial lightness and the transparent walls give a view of the busy life inside.
“The heart of the subject is life, and we need to surround it with the less possible.
I built a simple shelf, in which elements are flexible to adapt to the different rhythms of life. Le Nuage is a vertical village that carries the elegance of those who live there” says Philippe Starck.
