Seilern Studio Architects wins the design competition to build the new performing arts centre for Wellington College.
The scheme explores the idea of integrating a round auditorium as a floating drum, a building without sides, hovering lightly above the ground, nested within the surrounding forest.
The interstitial space between the existing theatre and the new assembly hall will become a flexible cultural living room, with the forest as a dramatic background, where spontaneous creative happenings can occur at the core of the cultural quarter.
