A key part in the urban recomposition and landscaping of the town centre of Le Bouscat, situated within the Bordeaux conurbation, involves the creation of a complex including a Multimedia Library and a Centre for Eco-citizenship and Voluntary Activities.
The new building is to play a central role, opening up new worlds of culture and innovation for local inhabitants of all ages and constituting a meaningful architectural landmark.
The building is user-friendly and welcoming, with the main public spaces leading off from the central foyer and distributed over the ground floor. The administrative services are housed on a mezzanine floor to which easy access is provided.
The materials used in floor surfacing as elsewhere will be elegantly restrained, refined rather than ostentatious, enlivened at times by a play on textures and sheens. Concrete was logically chosen as the material of predilection for the building’s skeleton thanks to its insulating and acoustic qualities.
The glazed surfaces have been designed according not only to their orientation, but also to functional, thermal and aesthetic considerations, not for getting user comfort. Source by atelier d’architecture King Kong.
