Foster + Partners’ proposed design is influenced by Taiwan’s climates and topography, with the silhouette of Central Mountain Range referenced in the building’s sweeping roofline.

The design also celebrates the local flora and fauna, with a lush garden showcasing the country’s indigenous plant species. Passengers are guided through the check-in zone and security to the immigration and departure gates along a greenery spine that serves as the central axis.

Covering more than 30,000 square meters, the lush garden in Foster + Partners’ proposal thus aims to reduce the anxiety and stress normally associated with air travel, inviting passengers to feast their eyes on natural and tranquil surroundings, as well as building a common ground between natural and artificial.
