Planning Approval of the $300m expansion of Adelaide Casino was recently granted, paving the way for an enduring and sophisticated international icon for Adelaide.
The Buchan Group are working in partnership with SkyCity and stakeholders to design the integrated entertainment complex incorporating a multi-tier casino and a luxury hotel complex in a new crystalline ‘jewel’ building.
The abiding design objective for the development is to deliver a design which is a unique and bold identity statement for the new Adelaide Casino entertainment precinct.
The new building will be presented with a consistent, coherent architectural expression, with a layered, wavilinear and predominantly glazed built form, referencing the meandering nearby River Torrens. The infinite faceted array of glass will present a shimmering luminous quality by day, and especially by night.
“Our aim is to create a grand urban gesture, an object of national and international recognition and imagery for Adelaide Casino and the City of Adelaide,” said Design Principal, David Forbes. “We are thrilled that the development has been approved and look forward to its progress.”
The development reinforces The Buchan Group’s excellence in casino design, having recently delivered projects such as The Star, Sydney; SkyCity Darwin; and The Baccarat Pavilion in Adelaide Casino.
