RED Company won the invited competition to develop and build the new EMEA headquarters for ASICS in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The new, state-of-the-art office building is designed by architecture firm Powerhouse Company. The world-renowned sports and lifestyle brand ASICS anticipates significant growth in the coming years. Their new EMEA headquarters will facilitate this growth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Design
Sport, health, collaboration and transparency are the main focal points for the new, 11,100 m2 ASICS EMEA headquarters. The unique design by Powerhouse Company features an efficient and flexible layout to optimally support various types of work, geared towards innovation and collaboration. In the design, very large, column-free work floors of 2,800 m2 each, surround a large and spacious atrium.
With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, each floor is flooded with natural light and offers panoramic views over the Haarlemmermeer polder. In the heart of the atrium lies ‘ASICS World’, a unique and three-dimensional showcase that simultaneously exhibits all ASICS brands, and functions as a podium, a meeting space and a design center. On the ground floor, surrounding ASICS World, the building will host an array of functions, such as a Power Health Bar, the ASICS gym and an ASICS brand store.
The building’s full glass facade is complemented by sleek cantilevering roofs, creating a unique and crispy silhouette. On every floor, parts of the facade fold inwards to create terraces giving direct access to a dedicated outside space. Catered specifically to ASICS’ unique philosophy of ‘A Sound Mind In A Sound Body’, the building will be constructed according to the latest high standards in health and sustainability as defined by the WELL Gold and LEED Gold certifications.
Sustainability
To fulfil the ambition of realising a cutting edge sustainable and healthy building, the choice has been made for the world’s most recognised assessment systems in the field: LEED for sustainability and WELL for health and well-being. The design team will create a building that is not only beneficial for its surroundings by saving energy, water and reducing CO2 emissions, but also ensures the well-being of its employees by focussing on a healthy interior climate and a comfortable, diverse working environment.
Location
Located in Hoofddorp, Beukenhorst-South, ASICS EMEA headquarters will become part of one of the most sustainable office parks in the Netherlands. The immediate surroundings of the office park are formed by green zones, footpaths and gardens. The chosen location is one of the most visible plots in the area. This will ensure visitors and passersby can easily identify and find their way to the new office.
