We wanted to share a few never-before-seen drone shots of Ellipse, a 41-story luxury rental tower in Jersey City’s thriving Newport neighborhood, designed by the New York office of internationally-acclaimed architecture firm Arquitectonica – their first project in Jersey City.

Named for its oval form, Ellipse stands apart from its contemporaries along the Jersey City waterfront with a distinct elliptical shape and glass façade. Drawing inspiration from its idyllic location on the Hudson River, Arquitectonica designed the building to maximize the potential of the 381 apartment layouts and their unrivaled views of the Manhattan skyline.

This concept is what Arquitectonica’s NYC office director Sam Luckino says “changed the quality of the units.” Attention to quality, he explained, is what prolific NYC developer LeFrak was after with Ellipse. “LeFrak wanted to do something unique and offer something that was elevated above the other kinds of products they’ve offered.”

The residences, also designed by Arquitectonica, range from spacious studios to three-bedroom homes, as well as five penthouses including two unique four-bedroom homes. This is Arquitectonica’s first project in Jersey City, and LeFrak’s most ambitious undertaking since the company spearheaded development in the 600-acre Newport district over three decades ago, which is now the largest mixed-use community in the United States.
