Fluor is one of the world’s leading listed engineering firms delivering engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance (EPCM) and project management. The company has worked in the Netherlands for over 50 years.
The new head office, which will also be owned by Fluor, will be close to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, in the sustainable Beukenhorst-Zuid business park in Hoofddorp. The new office, covering 20,000 m2, will provide 900 jobs.
A productive work environment
With its new premises, Fluor wants to respond even better to the major international questions it faces in the fields of both petrochemical and sustainable energy production.
The design of the new head office was mainly based on Fluor’s specific way of working where very large project teams work on complex projects. The building fulfils an important role in connecting all employees and aims to boost cohesion, job satisfaction and productivity.
Employee is central
In the design, Architectenbureau Paul de Ruiter focuses on the wellbeing of Fluor employees. Thus, all the work floors face the sun wherever possible, where the facade is designed so that daylight enters the building without causing light problems or overheating.
The aim is to achieve the BREEAM-NL Excellent certificate. On the roof, solar cells will cover 2,000 m2, and thermal energy storage will regulate the heating and cooling of the building. This will produce a significant reduction in the total energy consumption and CO2 emission.
Design & Build
In recent years, integrated contract forms like Design & Build have become popular in the Dutch construction industry. In these contracts, the traditional distinction between design and implementation has been removed.
Architectenbureau Paul de Ruiter, Dura Vermeer, DWA and Corsmit/Haskoning will work together integrally to build the ultimate smart accommodation for Fluor, taking into account the company’s stringent quality and safety requirements with guaranteed delivery times and budget control.
