Situated on a private island, the Four Seasons Hotel will transform the skyline of Manama, Bahrain’s capital city. The 50-story structure will offer 273 guest rooms and a penthouse-level “Skypod” restaurant, which will command unparalleled views of the Arabian Gulf.
The hotel will also house a high-tech business center and versatile meeting and events facilities, including a multi-use ballroom and banquet hall. Designed to be as iconic as it is luxurious, the tower will rise 201.5 meters above a reclaimed island at the center of Bahrain Bay, an expansive mixed-use development planned by SOM.
Bookending the structure are concrete monoliths that support a stack of glass-walled floors. Hotel rooms will occupy the lower portion of the building, while a spa will be placed near its summit. Upon completion, the tower will visually anchor this emerging waterfront district.
Four Seasons Bahrain Bay is a significant milestone in the realization of SOM’s larger master plan for the district. Originally conceived in response to widespread economic development in the Middle East, SOM’s scheme for the waterfront neighborhood calls for a series of parks, residential and office towers, and cultural venues, arranged in strong radial organization.
The 432,000-square-meter master plan positions Bahrain Bay as an engine of economic growth, seamlessly connected to the city’s international airport and the nearby Bahrain World Trade Center.
