Developer Harwood International broke ground Tuesday morning on its latest Uptown project, a seven-story building for luxury watchmaker Rolex, an 136,857-square-foot tower is being built at Harry Hines Boulevard and Moody Street, just blocks from the Crescent.
“We built the first office building in Uptown [for Rolex], and after 30 years, Rolex and Harwood International are partnering once again to build another addition in our district,” Harwood CEO Gabriel Barbier-Mueller said in a statement.
“This development will set a new standard for work life in the U.S. “We intend on creating an office that will feature a unique blend of innovative architecture and gardens that Dallas has never seen before.” Harwood’s in-house design team and Tokyo-based Kengo Kuma & Associates did the building with unique stacked floors that twist. Architect Kengo Kuma said the design “fuses nature and architecture.”
Landscape architect Sadafumi Uchiyama has planned a “Japanese-inspired tiered garden” with reflecting pools and waterfalls for the base of the tower.
