In an unprecedented move, the Art Gallery of South Australia’s exhibition Clarice Beckett: The present moment will be extended by a week due to popular demand. The visitors will now have until 23 May 2021 to experience the exhibition.

This is the first major exhibition of works by the Australian modernist painter to be staged in twenty years. Opening as part of the Adelaide Festival, Clarice Beckett: The present moment has attracted unprecedented critical acclaim and attracting visitors from across Australia, 28% of whom are from interstate.

Premier Steven Marshall says, ‘The success of Clarice Beckett: The present moment at AGSA is echoing across the country and we are proud to see people of all ages flock to the Art Gallery of South Australia to experience and celebrate the beauty in everyday scenes of this artist’s work.’

AGSA Director Rhana Devenport ONZM says, ‘To witness the streams of visitors leaving this exhibition everyday sometimes in tears and with smiles on their faces brings us all immense joy at AGSA, and so we are thrilled to offer visitors an extra week to come in and experience this evocative and rare exhibition.’

Clarice Beckett: The present moment exhibition takes visitors on a sensory journey through the course of the single day from the first breath of sunrise, through to sunset and finally a return into nightfall. Tickets for this major exhibition are currently on sale online and at AGSA.

The extension will allow interstate audiences to experience the Ramsay Art Prize 2021 exhibition as well as Clarice Beckett: The present moment over the final weekend of the exhibition.
